Conflict-free connection numbers of line graphs
A path in an edge-colored graph is called \emph{conflict-free} if it contains
at least one color used on exactly one of its edges. An edge-colored graph
is \emph{conflict-free connected} if for any two distinct vertices of ,
there is a conflict-free path connecting them. For a connected graph , the
\emph{conflict-free connection number} of , denoted by , is defined
as the minimum number of colors that are required to make conflict-free
connected. In this paper, we investigate the conflict-free connection numbers
of connected claw-free graphs, especially line graphs. We first show that for
an arbitrary connected graph , there exists a positive integer such that
. Secondly, we get the exact value of the conflict-free
connection number of a connected claw-free graph, especially a connected line
graph. Thirdly, we prove that for an arbitrary connected graph and an
arbitrary positive integer , we always have , with only the exception that is isomorphic to a star of order
at least~ and . Finally, we obtain the exact values of ,
and use them as an efficient tool to get the smallest nonnegative integer
such that .Comment: 11 page
Polynomial kernelization for removing induced claws and diamonds
A graph is called (claw,diamond)-free if it contains neither a claw (a
) nor a diamond (a with an edge removed) as an induced subgraph.
Equivalently, (claw,diamond)-free graphs can be characterized as line graphs of
triangle-free graphs, or as linear dominoes, i.e., graphs in which every vertex
is in at most two maximal cliques and every edge is in exactly one maximal
clique.
In this paper we consider the parameterized complexity of the
(claw,diamond)-free Edge Deletion problem, where given a graph and a
parameter , the question is whether one can remove at most edges from
to obtain a (claw,diamond)-free graph. Our main result is that this problem
admits a polynomial kernel. We complement this finding by proving that, even on
instances with maximum degree , the problem is NP-complete and cannot be
solved in time unless the Exponential Time

Parallel Mapper
The construction of Mapper has emerged in the last decade as a powerful and
effective topological data analysis tool that approximates and generalizes
other topological summaries, such as the Reeb graph, the contour tree, split,
and joint trees. In this paper, we study the parallel analysis of the
construction of Mapper. We give a provably correct parallel algorithm to
execute Mapper on multiple processors and discuss the performance results that
compare our approach to a reference sequential Mapper implementation. We report
the performance experiments that demonstrate the efficiency of our method
The generalized 3-edge-connectivity of lexicographic product graphs
The generalized -edge-connectivity of a graph is a
generalization of the concept of edge-connectivity. The lexicographic product
of two graphs and , denoted by , is an important graph
product. In this paper, we mainly study the generalized 3-edge-connectivity of
, and get upper and lower bounds of .
Moreover, all bounds are sharp.Comment: 14 page
Specifying 2-Trees
We derive new functional equations at a species level for 2trees including a new dissymmetry theorem. From these equations we deduce various enumerative series expansions for certain classes of 2-trees, including the molecular decomposition in some cases
